Tall Ship Eagle
3/c Joe Petry

We are now on our way to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and we are all realizing that our Eagle cruise is quickly coming to an end. When we began our voyage in Bermuda, none of us could have grasped the depth of knowledge and experiences we would gain on the ship this summer. There are many memories that we will never forget, and friendships that will never be broken. New friendships are formed and old ones are strengthened as we stand shoulder to shoulder hauling on lines, or climbing to the royals at the top of Eagle’s masts. Eagle provides an opportunity to make stronger bonds with your classmates while traveling all over the world.

To many of us, Eagle represents our first true experience in the Coast Guard fleet. The crew and the cadre help prepare us for life at sea by organizing hands-on training sessions. This training allows us to have fun while learning the essentials of life at sea. These constant interactions with the cadre and the crew aboard Eagle helps build strong bonds that will transfer to the fleet when we graduate. It is these experiences that have made Eagle an integral part of our lives.
