Tall Ship Eagle
3/c Kimberley Hubert

I thought that compared to USCGC Healy, Eagle would miserable. However, Eagle is given a bad reputation at the Academy. Many people recant the small racks, strict guidelines, and the many watches. Before I came aboard, I had already made up my mind that I was not going to enjoy this part of my summer. However, from what I have experienced, Eagle, though unlike most of the Coast Guard, is its own experience; you cannot compare it against anything else.

Experience-wise, I really enjoy learning new aspects of navigation and being familiar with each line of the ship. My first week on Eagle has really opened my mind to learning and enjoying the art of sailing and why people enjoy it. It is also great to get to know those classmates I rarely interact with at school.
