The Institute for Leadership was established as the Academy's coordinating body for all gifted programs relating to Leadership and Ethics. Related gifts and endowments held by the USCGA Alumni Association and Coast Guard Foundation include:

• Class of '54 Homeland Security Law Lecture Series
• Class of '64 Admiral James M. Loy Governmental Leadership Endowment Fund
• USAA Leadership Speaker Series

The Institute expects that by collectively leveraging these gifts through the Institute, it will be able to enhance the quality of speakers and programs delivered to the Academy community. In support of this initiative, the Institute has also established a Leadership Speaker Series Focus Group, which generates lists of proposed speakers, appropriately vetting them with cadet, faculty and staff input.
