LT Darnell Talbert
Hello! My name is LT Warren "Darnell" Talbert and I am an Admissions Officer at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. I am excited to serve the Midwest region of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Thank you for your interest in learning more about the many opportunities to serve as a future leader at the world’s premier maritime service academy.

I originally enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2009. I graduated from the Coast Guard's first Maritime Enforcement (ME) A-School at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina. As a prior ME, I participated in numerous search and rescue and law enforcement missions. Most notably I deployed under Operations Enduring Freedom/New Dawn to Kuwait and Iraqi waters as part of Port Security Unit 313's security detachment in 2011. I was also called to serve during Deepwater Horizon as a response team member in the area of the Gulf of Mexico.

In 2012, I attended and graduated from the Reserve Officer Candidate Indoctrination (ROCI) and began my career as a commissioned officer at Port Security Unit 309 in Port Clinton, Ohio. During my ensign tour, I served as the Assistant Force Protection Officer, Service Support Chief, Assistant Waterborne Security Officer, and as the unit Educational Services Officer. I hold a B.A. in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and an M.S. in Health and Human Performance from Eastern Michigan University and currently reside in Connecticut.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about the Academy, the application process, career opportunities in the Coast Guard or any other questions you may have about your bright future. I look forward to hearing from you!
