LCDR LEE HARTSHORN

Lieutenant Commander Lee Hartshorn is currently assigned as an electrical engineering instructor at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. He is a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy Class of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and a Master of Business Administration with Information Technology specialization from the University of Massachusetts.  

Prior to joining the Academy faculty, LCDR Hartshorn served as the C4IT Department Head and St. Elizabeths Information Technology Director at Base National Capital Region in Washington, D.C. Previous to that position, he was the Logistics Director for the Nationwide Automatic Identification System (NAIS) under the Assistant Commandant for Acquisitions (CG-9). Additionally, he has served tours with CGCYBER as a government watch officer at the DHS Headquarters network operations center, CG-5 in the program office for electronic navigation systems (DGPS and LORAN), CG-6 as an asset manager for IT systems, and as an engineer officer in training (EOIT) on the CGC Bear, where he also qualified as a Deck Watch Officer.  

LCDR Hartshorn is a native of Lynn, Massachusetts and is married to the former Kelly Garot of Kewaunee, Wisconsin. He currently resides in Old Saybrook, Connecticut with his wife, son Isaac (5), daughter Lila (2), and their two rescue dogs.
